RetuRns & Refunds
Preview build. These documents are drafts pending review by counsel and are not legal advice. Numbers and terms may change before launch.
How returns work at getDARC: a 30-day window on new stocked products, honest limits on custom builds and Vault units, and refunds to your original payment method.
1. Overview and our commitment
This policy explains when and how you can return a product bought from getDARC.com, operated by Tombatossals Softworks LLC, and how refunds are handled. It works together with our Shipping Policy and our Warranty terms.
We do not use dark patterns. The cash price is shown plainly throughout, there is no restocking trap hidden at the last step, and any limit on a return is stated here in advance rather than sprung on you after purchase.
This document is a preview draft published for review and is pending review by counsel. It is not legal advice; where terms are still being confirmed, we say so.
2. 30-day return window on new, stocked products
New, stocked products, meaning components, accessories, and prebuilt lines held in inventory, may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund, provided they are unused and in original condition with all packaging, accessories, and included documentation.
Products that show use beyond what is needed to inspect them, or that are missing parts or packaging, may be refused or subject to a reduction reflecting the loss in value. We will tell you the reason before completing the return.
3. Custom builds
A custom build is assembled to your unique configuration, which limits its resale as is. Custom builds are therefore not covered by the standard 30-day change-of-mind return, and an accepted return may carry a restocking consideration that reflects labor and the cost of returning parts to stock.
This is not a penalty for a defect. A custom build that arrives faulty or not as configured is handled under our Warranty terms and is made right at no cost to you. The restocking consideration applies only to a change-of-mind return of a working machine, and the amount is disclosed before you commit to the return.
4. DARC Vault (retro and used units)
DARC Vault units are unique used or restored items sold with a stated Vault Grade and a Certificate of Authenticity. They are sold final-sale, except for a narrow not-as-graded return.
The not-as-graded return applies only where a unit materially does not match its stated Vault Grade, documented recap work, or Certificate of Authenticity as described at the time of sale. It does not cover buyer's remorse or the normal characteristics of vintage hardware, which are disclosed before purchase. A qualifying return is refunded in full.
5. Non-returnable items
Some items cannot be returned once opened or used, except where they are defective or covered by warranty. These include software, digital licenses and codes, and items sold as final-sale, including DARC Vault units outside the not-as-graded case above.
Nothing in this section limits your rights under our Warranty terms or applicable law for a product that is defective.
6. Damaged in transit
If a parcel arrives visibly damaged, note it with the carrier where possible and contact us within a reasonable time so we can open a claim. High-value builds ship with declared carrier insurance and signature on delivery, and transit loss or damage is handled as a carrier and RMA matter.
See our Shipping Policy for how risk of loss transfers and how insured value is set. A transit-damage claim does not consume your 30-day return window.
7. Starting a return (RMA)
To start a return, contact [email protected] with your order number and the reason. We will confirm whether the item qualifies and, if so, issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) with instructions. Please do not ship anything back before an RMA is issued, as unauthorized returns cannot be tracked to your order.
Every RMA moves through a fixed lifecycle so you can see where it stands: requested, approved, in transit, received, inspected, then resolved. Each step is recorded, and inspection is where a refund amount is confirmed against the condition of the returned item.
8. Refunds: method and timing
Approved refunds are issued to your original payment method through Stripe. We do not refund to a different card, account, or store credit unless the original method is no longer available and we agree an alternative.
Orders paid with financing are refunded back through the financing provider, Affirm or Klarna, which then adjusts your plan with them. Refunds are issued once the returned item is received and inspected; the time for the funds to appear depends on your bank or financing provider.
9. Return shipping costs
If a return is because of our error, such as a defect, a wrong or damaged item, or a machine not as configured, we pay return shipping and provide a prepaid label. For a change-of-mind return of an eligible new, stocked product, you pay the return shipping.
For reference on outbound shipping: standard shipping is free on orders over $99. Outbound shipping already paid on an order is not refunded on a change-of-mind return; only the price of the returned goods is refunded.
10. Contact
Questions about a return or refund can be sent to [email protected]. Please include your order number so we can find your order quickly.
