getDARC's limited warranty: two years of parts-and-labor coverage on new builds, upgrade-friendly terms, and an honest as-graded warranty for DARC Vault units.
1. Overview
This is a Limited Warranty from Tombatossals Softworks LLC, operator of getDARC.com. It is titled Limited conspicuously, as the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act requires, because it covers specific defects for a stated term rather than everything without limit.
This document is a preview draft published for review and is pending review by counsel. The warranty term stated below is a preview draft under review and may change before launch. This is not legal advice.
2. New-build coverage
New builds carry a 2-year limited warranty covering parts and labor for defects in workmanship and covered components, measured from the delivery date. Within this term we repair or replace a qualifying defect at no cost to you, using new or equivalent parts.
Where an individual component carries its own manufacturer warranty, that warranty passes through to you and we help you use it. Our coverage sits alongside those manufacturer warranties, not in place of them.
3. What is covered
Covered: defects in our workmanship, meaning the assembly, wiring, and cooling we performed, and defects in the components we supplied that fail under normal use within the term. A machine that does not perform as built because of such a defect is repaired or replaced.
4. What is not covered
Not covered: accidental damage, liquid damage, drops, power surges, and cosmetic wear; misuse, neglect, or operation outside a component's rated specification, including overclocking beyond manufacturer limits; damage from unauthorized repair; and consumable or expected wear.
Also not covered are software issues not caused by our workmanship, and any damage a customer modification directly causes. Coverage excludes the damage such a change causes, not the rest of the machine.
5. Upgrades and third-party parts
This warranty is upgrade-friendly. Opening the case, adding memory or storage, replacing a fan, or installing third-party parts does not by itself void this warranty. We do not condition coverage on using only our parts or service; the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act prohibits that kind of tie-in.
The one limit is causation: if a modification directly damages the machine, the resulting damage is not covered, but unrelated covered defects remain covered. We do not use an upgrade as a pretext to deny an unrelated claim.
6. Extended coverage
An extended warranty tier is available as a paid option that lengthens the standard term. Its price and exact duration are shown before purchase, and it extends the same parts-and-labor coverage described above rather than changing what is covered.
7. DARC Vault as-graded warranty
DARC Vault units carry a distinct as-graded warranty, not new-build coverage. A Vault unit is warranted to match its stated Vault Grade, any documented recap or restoration work, and its Certificate of Authenticity as of the shipment date.
Vintage components are not warranted as new and carry no new-product longevity promise; the normal behavior and limited remaining life of old hardware are characteristics of the product, disclosed before sale rather than hidden. A unit sold at Parts grade is explicitly non-working or salvage and is warranted only as such.
8. Implied warranties
Where state law allows, the duration of any implied warranty, such as merchantability, is limited to the term of this written warranty. We do not disclaim implied warranties entirely. Some states do not allow limits on how long an implied warranty lasts, so this limitation may not apply to you.
This clause is under counsel review, and nothing in this warranty removes rights you have under applicable state or federal law.
9. Making a warranty claim
To make a claim, contact [email protected] with your order number and a description of the problem. If the issue qualifies, we issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and guide you through the same lifecycle used for returns: requested, approved, in transit, received, inspected, then resolved.
For a covered defect we pay shipping both ways. Please keep your original order record; the Proof of Build issued with new builds helps us verify the machine and its components quickly.
10. Availability of terms and contact
These warranty terms are made available before purchase, on product pages and this warranty page, as the Magnuson-Moss pre-sale availability rule requires. They are not withheld until after the sale.
Questions about warranty coverage can be sent to [email protected]. Because this is a preview draft under review, the stated term and clauses may be adjusted before launch; the version and effective date above record the current terms.
